3 Ways to Market Your Website Without Really Trying

1. Your email address. If you’re still using one of those free email services like Yahoo, Juno, Hotmail, etc. (you know who you are), it’s time to get serious. An email address at your own domain (you@yourbusiness.com) lends credibility to your business and puts your business name in front of people every time you send a message. Nearly all web hosting plans include at least one email address–my basic plan includes up to 5. So there’s no more reason to give advertising to Yahoo or AOL–advertise yourself!

2. Your email signature. Most email programs give you the option of creating your own automatic email signature. This appears at the conclusion of each email you send. It’s a great time saver (how many times do you need to type “Best regards, Bill”) and also a great way to remind people of your business. Plus, no one has to hunt for your contact information because it’s always in your messages. Here’s my signature:

Kind Regards,

3. Your business card. Are you still using that box of business cards you had printed two years ago? If your cards aren’t current, they aren’t doing you much good. That includes listing your website address! If you have a new site, some new business cards may be in order. If you can’t bear to toss the old ones, they’re the perfect size for a short to-do list or grocery list.
